Two years ago I released a model using vintage new old stock parts and it received some really good responses, so that got me thinking, there's got to be more of these vintage parts out there are waiting to be discovered and reused.

 

After some time searching and asking around, I was fortunate to find more vintage cases, the cases were manufactured between 1970 and 1980, the original brand that used these cases were unknown, or to be more precise, the factory owner simply could not remember and records were lost after all these years, but I was told the cases were originially exported to Germany. 

 

I wanted to do something different with the dial this time, rather than using laquer, enamel, or oil based paint to make the dial, I went with paper, not just any paper, a traditional cotton paper used for Chinese calligraphy and painting. The unique texture of the paper gives the dial an exquisite look. Plus, I thought it'd be fun since not that many brands have made a paper dial before. 

 

The choice for movement was obvious, it has to be vintage as well, I had good experience using A. Schild movement from previous models so it was a no brainer to go with A. Schild movements again and it's a AS1537 manual movement capable of 33 hours power reserve, not bad for a movement size of a dime.

The cases and crystals were made more than 50 years ago, eventhough they are new old stock items, it is still inevitable to have some light to small blemishes. I opt not to refurbish/repolish them and rather keep them the way it is because I want the traces on time to be seen on the watch.
